Cosa impari in questo corso?
Engineering project design
There are three core course themes, which are carefully balanced across all years of the course: specific technical knowledge, construction practice and skill development through group project work.
Throughout the three years of study you will cover the principles of civil engineering including: engineering analysis, structural analysis and design, highways and surveying, ground and water engineering construction and project management.
In your fina year, your will get the chance to select two modules from two groups of optional modules in the following subject areas: hydrology, transport infrastructure, structural design, advanced surveying and construction management.
Your course will be based on a series of lectures, with associated tutorials, labs and practical sessions. In addition, you will be assigned a personal tutor who will review and discuss your progress with you and will be available for advice.
You will work with staff on real-world problems from industry, commerce and research groups, as you would in professional practice; this means that you can develop all of the professional skills at the same time as you learn the technical content of your degree.
An estimated percentage breakdown of how your final grade is assessed is as follows: formal examinations 40%; coursework, tests, essays 10%; practical or project work 20%; group work 20%; presentations, posters etc.10%.
A compulsory Add+vantage module must also be completed as each stage: please see the page on the Add+vantage scheme for more details.
