In the face of growing development and interest towards professional services in tourism and hospitality, Apicius International School of Hospitality (A.I.S.H.) has taken on the challenge of structuring a dynamic academic institution for individuals desiring the professional training necessary to enter these fields.Whether a 4-year degree covering the ins and outs of the entire industry or 1 year certificate programs in specific areas, students have the opportunity to interact in an international enviroment with practicing professionals and the historically and culturally rich city of Florence while carrying out their studies.All professional students, regardless of degree duration, initiate their studies with a specific focus (Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry, Food Communications and Publishing, Wine Studies, Hospitality Management) and depending on the type of degree, can deepen skills and theory in single fields or opt for the full four year experience covering every aspect of Hospitality Management.The increasing crossover of technological, multimedia, and communicational aspects with the ancient practices of cuisine and tourism calls for experts possessing keen knowledge grounded in tradition and well-honed skills combined with the ability to adapt to the changing fluxes of the present day.Combining passionate faculty, an intercultural student body, a broad curriculum, and state of the art facilities, Apicius represents this bold objective in a historic Italian cityscape positioned on the international level. A.I.S.H. was founded in 1997 by Gabriella Ganugi as a private institution for higher education and is located in the historic center of Florence, Italy. An internationally respected leader in academic, professional and career oriented education, Apicius offers both academic and professional programs to international students seeking to combine outstanding teaching staff, state-of-the-art classroom facilities and academic integrity with field experience gained through hands-on instruction with professionals. The school mission is to teach students how to develop their own individual capacities to optimum potential, preparing them for a career in a rapidly developing industry that encompasses a wide range of exciting, constantly evolving fields.Student Serivces was created as a joint effort between Apicus and Florence University of the Arts (FUA) to provide a safe, cultural, and entertaining environment in which students can discover the city of Florence, the Italian culture, and foster relationships with fellow students and staff. The department is composed of Apicius and FUA staff and faculty who collaborate continuously to create an interesting curriculum of activities ranging from sports, connecting cultures, community service, cinema, journalism, music, and excursions and field trips in both Italy and Europe. Each of the activities is held in well-equipped facilities under the supervision of experienced staff members. We believe that students should be able to communicate with their surroundings rather than being led around the usual places to simply observe what's going on. The activities, whether for leisure or social/cultural awareness workshops (newsletter, community service, etc), have been structured with student interaction in mind. Students choose from a variety of unique options to explore, perceive, and create according to their personal hobbies and interests while living abroad in a new country. The mission of Student Services is not only to encourage students to actively participate in their foreign surroundings but also in an interdisciplinary environment where students of both campuses can get to know each other.
