Descrizione

Today’s business environment is one of risk and uncertainty.

The financial and banking crisis has forced corporations to change their business models, their information systems and management processes to improve performance and to manage risks.

The environment has become more complex, more international and is subject to constant change. In meeting the requirements of their clients, the auditing and consulting professions have adapted their techniques and services. We, at ESCP Europe, have evolved, and the MS Programme Auditing and Consulting, reflects the professional requirements. Our course programme responds to the skills and disciplines required by auditors and consultants, and the teaching methods are based on an interdisciplinary and team approach.

Programma

A Programme adapted to the Professional Environment

The programme consists of three poles of activity, corresponding to each phase of your studies. The course design ensures an integrated link between each phase.

To sum up:

  • 2 terms of intensive courses - September to December; May and June. A one-week international seminar abroad is included and takes place in July.
  • 1 term of professsionalisation from January to April : a company placement of 4 months and a professional thesis defended orally to a committee between early November and mid-December the year following the September intake.

Participants have to be proficient both in French and English.

The course programme is structured around the two academic terms spent at ESCP Europe:

  • September to December, the basic knowledge modules
  • May to June, the application seminars and workshops
International seminar

The aim of the international seminar is to give students a comparative perspective on managerial and cultural practices, meet professionals in the field abroad and attend lectures.

Previous classes went to Shanghai, Beijing, Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Montreal, New York, etc.

They attended many professional seminars from companies such as Mazars, Montagut (clothing company), Shui (On line Property Development Company), Pramx Shanghai BPCE Group, Savills Real Estate, BNP Paribas, Total, Natixis, L’Oréal, Nestlé, etc.

Professional mission

From April to December, students must complete an in-company internship of at least 4 months. ESCP Europe assists students in locating internship opportunities and networking with companies.

The internship is an opportunity for practical application of the theoretical concepts learned from courses, with an eye to establishing a career. In many cases, corporate employers consider the internship as a trial period for a permanent position.

The Company Relations Department of ESCP Europe is, among other things, dedicated to gather placement offers from many companies. The department also organises a series of fairs involving firms, giving Specialised Master® students many opportunities to make contact:

  • Meeting Companies, which takes place every year in October, is intended for Specialised Masters® and 3rd year Master in Management students: over 100 companies are involved, including international banks and audit and consulting firms etc…
  • Conference cycles ‘One hour/One job’ and ‘One hour/One sector’, allow students
to fully grasp the reality of different professional functions within companies from various sectors

  • The January ESCP Europe Forum brings together around 120 French and international companies to present their job offers.

Professional thesis / dissertation

Subsequent to the internship, students must complete a professional dissertation in consultation with an ESCP Europe Professor. This individual research project is an essential part of the programme since it leads to in-depth analysis. The topic chosen is approved beforehand by an academic advisor and students are taught research methods. The dissertation is defended orally between early November and mid-December.

The dissertation is the final stage of the programme. It represents 30 of the total of 75 ECTS credits earned over the year.

Here are a few examples of thesis topics of the Specialised Master in Audit and Consulting:

  • “The Subprime Crisis: analysis of the causes and responsibilities”, by Omar Sharif
  • “The impact of IFRS on group financial statements” by Matthias Buchler.
  • “New approaches to credit risk management and Value Creation in banks” by Thi Ngoc Tram Truong.
  • “The role of minority shareholders in corporate governance in the United States, Great Britain and France” by Hélène Leclerc.
