Maltese Survivor - Basic Survival Course
The basic course is a chance for a person to live and experience a true survival scenario. With this experience he/she is set out of his comfort zone and is taught on an individual basis the principles of survival. You will be taught about the psychology of survival and it’s stresses. We later focus on shelter building using nature first as well as constructing our own primitive water tight shelter. We will also cover water procurement as well as water filtering techniques.Learn to have a look at the natural fauna and flora and learn about what edible plants are available. Primitive traps and stalking of wild animals is also part of the course and we will teach you how to set up such traps with the only things you have available on you. Learn navigation techniques during the day as well as at night without a compass as well as learn how to build a primitive fire using primitive techniques. Learn various cooking methods in the wild. Get to learn basic wilderness first aid using medicinal plants. River crossing techniques are also taught, both individual crossing as well as group crossing, we will also teach you how to retain body heat and core temperature with out the risk of falling into hypothermia. Finally we will learn signalling and rescue techniques using the only things available around us in the forest. Students will be awarded a merit certificate as well as a basic Maltese Survivor merit badge.
