Descrizione

Are you interested in teaching English as a third language? If so, consider this postgraduate program from the International University of Catalonia. The “Postgrau en Ensenyament de l'Anglès com a tercera llengua” or Postgraduate degree in teaching English as a Third Language, is a blended course comprised of 25 credits and involving both class time and online distance learning. It begins in January of 2015 and ends in June of 2015, for a total of 6 months of classes. The program, classes, study materials and projects will all be in English. This course is directed to those who are interested in teaching English in a primary or secondary educational setting. It is specifically geared towards those who hold degrees in Education, Early Childhood Education or in the Humanities. In order to participate in this program, it is recommended that potential students have at least a B1 level of English.

Programma

Course Objectives

The syllabus for this program will reflect the following objectives:

- Become familiar with aspects of multilingualism and the different methodologies involved in the acquisition of third languages

- Understand the cognitive and metacognitive processes which influence the acquisition of a third language

- Understand and explore the methodologies involved in the integration of the foreign language (AICLE/CLIL)

- Develop an increased awareness of English-speaking cultures

- Learn how to incorporate lessons on culture when teaching

- Learn to create lessons plans which teach foreign language acquisition from an interdisciplinary perspective

- Understand the processes involved in the development of reading comprehension skills

- Improve upon the teachers’ linguistic skills in English
