This flexible study day has been designed to meet the needs of registered practitioners who work in clinical settings where continuous cardiac monitoring is performed and/or 12-lead ECG interpretation skills are required. Candidates requiring rhythm recognition skills alone can opt to attend the morning (9am - 12pm) session only. Please book on to the Introduction to Rhythm Recognition study day if you would like to complete rhythm recognition skills only.The full study will cover both rhythm recognition in the morning and 12-lead ECG interpretation in the afternoon*.*Please note that attendance at the morning ‘introduction to rhythm recognition’ is a pre-requisite for completion of the afternoon ‘introduction to 12-lead ECG interpretation’. Introduction to rhythm recognition

  • Revision of cardiac anatomy and electrophysiology
  • Six stage approach to systematic rhythm interpretation
  • Recognition of normal sinus rhythm and common arrhythmias
  • Appreciation of the clinical context of some common arrhythmias

Introduction to 12-lead ECG interpretation

  • Obtaining a readable and clinically useful 12-Lead ECG (including lead placement)
  • Systematic approach to 12-lead ECG interpretation (including recognition of the normal 12-lead ECG)
  • The role of the 12-lead ECG in identifying acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and determining immediate management
  • 12-lead ECG abnormalities associated with electrolyte imbalance
