Short interviews & skill builder will be carried out prior to enrolment by hairdressing tutors - this will ensure interviewees understand the course content and costs involved with the 2 year programme, level of commitment and attendance required.Information about the course
This 2 year programme gives a broad introduction to hairdressing and develops the practical skills required by industry. Students are taught in working salons in the college, which are open to the public.Course content
NVQ Level 2 hairdressing consists of nine units
Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety - G1
Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation - G5
Advise and consult with clients - G7
Cut hair using basic techniques - H6
Shampoo and condition hair and scalp - H9
Style, dress and finish hair using basic techniques - H10
Change hair colour using basic techniques - H13
Perm and neutralise hair using basic techniques - H12
Provide scalp massage services - H18
When will I receive my results?
Results will be forwarded on as soon as they are received at the college. Please note that certificates, where awarded, can take up to 4 months to be received at the college before forwarding on to learners.Assessment
Continuous assessment in written and practical aspects of hairdressing. Additional evidence will be required through assignment work. The Hairdressing National Occupational Standards require individuals to be able to work to a "commercially viable time".Progression
Possible careers include junior stylist, work in television, as a photographic session stylist.Additional fee information
Information regarding additional costs will be available at interview with confirmed costings and order details given out at enrolment. Students will need to purchase equipment/uniform/textbook as soon as possible after enrolment to ensure they have received items prior to the start of course.
This is a 2 year programme with additional course fees to be paid before start of year 2
