The aim of this module is to provide registered paramedics and other emergency care providers with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge within the field of pre-hospital traumatic pathophysiology. Furthermore, the module will encourage students to evaluate the evidence-base underpinning contemporary approaches to assessment and emergency treatment.WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE?

On successful completion of this module you should be able to:
- Understand the pathophysiology of pre-hospital traumatic injury.
- Note the principles of patient assessment in relation to trauma.
- Assess the efficacy of current guidelines and recommendations in relation to the management of pre-hospital trauma.
- Understand the professional, ethical and legal responsibilities of the pre-hospital emergency care provider.
This module will be delivered entirely online, during the Summer term, through a combination of directed and self-directed activity, including interactive lectures, discussion boards, ‘live’ conferences and e-books/journals. As this module will be taught online you will need to ensure that your computer facilities have the necessary system requirements to enable access to the course materials.
