Develop the professional expertise needed to plan, develop, manage and deliver complex projects. Applicable to any industry, our course is Association for Project Management (APM) accredited. It is designed for graduates and professionals who wish to enter a career, or further their existing career in project management.

Our MSc Project Management takes a generic approach to project management. It provides the opportunity for you to develop a comprehensive understanding of the role of the project manager and a broad understanding of the management processes and practices involved in the development and operation of projects from inception to completion.

You will develop the knowledge and applicational skills required to manage projects in a wide range of organisations that use projects.

You will be able to meet the increasing demand for professional project managers, nationally and internationally, to provide the increasingly sophisticated management of projects across a broad spectrum of organisations.

Requisiti: A first degree, with honours, in a related subject and at a minimum final classification of lower second (2:2) or equivalent. Those who do not possess an honours degree, but have a degree or degree equivalent qualification and/or appropriate work experience at a suitable level within an organisation for an appropriate length of time, will be considered; applicants may be interviewed. qualifications from an approved professional body will also be taken into account.

  • Management TheoryThis module is designed to facilitate each student's development of their own individual knowledge base and approach to management. Its aim is to get students to develop their own particular approach to management by establishing a solid foundation of management knowledge and integrating this with their own values, experiences and goals, to provide the basis for a life-long development of their management skills. 
  • Management PracticeThis Module recognises the importance of people to the success of organisations and that organisational performance is largely dependent on the performance of its human resources, which in turn is determined by the quality and effectiveness of their management. 
  • Project Management ContextThis module provides a sound understanding of the context for project management and how projects relate to organisations and the larger organisational environment. It enables you to develop an appreciation of the history and development of project management, together with a critical consideration of contemporary project management from examples of its application in a wide range of organisations and industries. 
  • Project Management SystemsThis module establishes the framework for the management of projects and develops a comprehensive understanding of the role and functions of the project manager throughout the project life-cycle, from inception to completion, together with the diverse range of resources and activities that the project manager must plan, co-ordinate and control to achieve a successful project.
  • Project Planning and ControlThis module is designed to enable you to develop a systematic understanding of the principles, practices and systems used to plan and control projects. 
  • Cost and Financial ManagementDevelop an understanding of the financial, commercial and cost aspects of project management. We'll explore the business and commercial environment in which projects exist, critically evaluating the factors that influence the strategic and financial rationale for them. 
  • Project Management TechniquesYou'll develop a systematic understanding of a range of operations management techniques that are applicable to projects, enabling you to critically evaluate the project needs and to select and apply appropriate techniques to address these. 
  • Research Design and MethodsGain an in-depth understanding of the theories and methods of research and research design and develop a theoretical and practical foundation in research for your major project/dissertation. 
  • DissertationYou'll chose an independent research topic from an area of expertise within our department (subject to availability of suitable supervision) and will conduct a significant research project in that area which may involve a literature review, data collection, analysis and a write-up.

You’ll be assessed in a number of different ways including research projects and reports, written coursework including essays and case studies, group work and presentations, examinations and a dissertation.
