Please note: this course has now been cancelled for 2016. A decision on whether to run the course in 2017 is pending. This two and a half day course is aimed at professional civil engineers interested in the seismic design of buildings, bridges and nuclear structures. It consists of a total of 11 lectures and covers the basics of structural dynamics and engineering seismology, which are necessary for understanding the background of seismic design provisions of modern codes. There are also a number of advanced topics, including seismic design of ‘non-building’ structures and performance-based design.People having attended the course will be able to apply Eurocode 8 to the seismic design of buildings, bridges and nuclear structures.
