The program is established with a focus on development and implementation of new simulation-driven design and manufacturing paradigms for development of advanced materials, structures, and engineering systems with enhanced lifecycle, mechanical and physical characteristics demanded in high-tech industries. The program is created to prepare the next generation of researchers, engineers, and practitioners to assume a role of technical leadership in research and innovation of high-tech sector.

Quali sono gli obiettivi della formazione?

Our graduates will have:

1. fundamental knowledge in mechanics, micromechanics, and physics of advanced manufacturing and materials;
2. deep understanding of modern technological methods and tools, information technology-based manufacturing and product development practices;
3. ability to apply information technology, mathematics, mechanics, physics, and material science in engineering practice and research in advanced manufacturing and materials;
4. vision for the creation of new technologies, design and development of sustainable systems, and development of novel materials;
5. ability to apply simulation-driven product development paradigm in engineering system design;
6. ability to work with technical literature (e.g. conduct bibliographical research, read and critically analyze scientific articles, use scientific metrics and engineering documentation).

Requisiti: Knowledge and skills: successful candidates must have solid knowledge of Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering. Education: bachelor's degree, or its equivalent in Physics, Mechanics, Material Science, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics. English Language: if your education has not been conducted in English, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency.

Il meglio: My name is Biltu Mahato. I am from Nepal, a mountainous country sandwiched between India and China. Back in 2017, after completion of my engineering degree, I was working for a company in Bangalore, India. I always wanted to go for higher study and was looking for a research opportunity. After a quick search, Skoltech came as an option. The SK website gave me an impression of Skoltech as a university focused on research and innovation with the English medium of instruction in Russia offering a full scholarship. That was exactly what I was looking for. Then I applied, wrote the exam, interviewed and got selected for MSc. Now, I am in the second year of my MSc.

Il meglio: After one year in Skoltech, I can say that this is a place with a very bright community and it is unique in its kind. There are surprisingly many opportunities for MSc students: you can choose and focus on the skills that will be useful in the industry, you can start your own startup, and you can immediately start doing serious research. Also, if you will work hard you will be able to travel around the world showing the results at conferences or try yourself as a researcher in one of the best research groups on your subject, as I happened to spend a semester in Belgium.

Il meglio: Skoltech is very different comparing to traditional universities. I chose Skoltech in 2012 because I felt this is a unique opportunity - to be among best people, be in the middle of the entrepreneurial science. And also experience the foreign approach to education.
