The world of manufacturing is changing

As a consequence of the continuous social and economic global challenges, manufacturing companies are evolving their production systems, with particular focus on new management and technology skills.

The Executive Master in Manufacturing Automation & Digital Transformation (EMMA) will prepare future leaders for the 4th industrial revolution. Engineers are often forced into technical specialities and managers do not develop technological knowledge, meaning the end-to-end systemic view is often lost and opportunities missed. This programme blends together all these elements into a unique learning experience.

The best people are needed to face these challenges and take advantage of new developments. Only those who are highly skilled with a deep-rooted understanding of technology as well as markets, and with a forward-looking mindset, can unlock the potential of innovative manufacturing solutions.

The Executive Master in Manufacturing Automation & Digital Transformation is a 12-month, part-time programme now recruiting for September 2018.

Programma

The 12 months of the Executive Master in Manufacturing Automation & Digital Transformation are divided into five one-week modules in class, and 80 hours of distance-learning modules and project work.

The in-class learning represents a total of 260 hours (32.5 days) of classroom, lab and company experience.

This breaks down as:

  • Management Modules (2.5 days)
Taught modules designed to train participants on applied managerial, organisational and financial theories and models, as well as to foster the development of decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Technology Modules (2.5 days)
Taught Modules designed to allow the participants to develop technical know-how on manufacturing automation and digital transformation.
  • Automation Lab (1 day)
Applied sessions, in-company or in-lab, during which participants will work in teams to apply the concepts learned to a practical challenge. Teams will experience the constraints of a competitive environment and will need to deliver a product/solution by the end of the session.

  • Project Work (0.5 day)
All participants will deliver an in-company project throughout the master. In these sessions participants will present a review of the project work performed since the previous module and receive feedback from both the class and course instructors.

The 80 hours of distance learning breaks down into three sections:

  • E-Learning
A selected blend of distance-learning modules, synchronous and asynchronous, covering a set of basic skills and competences.

  • Webinar
Interactive synchronous webinars, with guest lectures presenting original perspectives on the major trends in manufacturing, technology and management.

  • Project Work
Company-sponsored participants will dedicate a minimum of 40 hours per month to a project within their company, to which they will apply the newly acquired competences and skills. Self-sponsored participants will develop their project work within a panel of partner companies in the form of full-time internships.
