Profilo del corso

The programme prepares a future generation of professionals with a multidisciplinary background and advanced expertise in the protection of cultural property in time of crisis and, more widely, in the role of culture for addressing the social and economic recovery of affected areas and communities.

Cooperation among different subjects, community engagement, and a proper use of all the available resources is essential in correctly approaching crisis scenarios. The Master is thus targeted on a mix of civilians, military personnel, NGOs personnel, volunteers, peacekeepers, government authorities, community leaders, cultural sites managers and operators, and, more in general, all the persons with a role in intervening in field operations in armed conflits or disasters scenarios, as well as those ones operating in the post conflict or post disaster recovery and reconciliation process.
In addition, the program addresses young students and academics who intend to specialize in the subject.

Applicant are required to have:
- an Undergraduate degree - First cycle degree - Bachelor level degree;
- fluent spoken and written English.

Upon successful completion of aforementioned requirements, the participants will be awarded a first level Specializing Master's Diploma (Master Universitario di I livello) in "Cultural Property Protection in Crisis Response" from the University of Turin.

The current political instability of many countries in the world, the consequent increase of conflicts, the intensification of natural disasters and their increasingly significant social and economic effects, have made it very evident the urgency to form specialized professionals able to intervene concretely in crisis scenarios, to promote the prevention of damage to cultural heritage and to guide the recovery and reconstruction processes of the sites affected, from a cultural and a socio-economic point of view.

It is in this context that the international Master in Cultural Property Protection in Crisis Response is born: the first university Master in the world aiming at preparing future generation of professionals with a multidisciplinary background and advanced expertise in the protection of cultural property in time of crisis and, more widely, in increasing the intervene on cultural assets in crisis areas, from the organization of emergency operations, to the stabilization of the interventions’ conditions, up to the drafting of recovery and development plans for the affected areas.
