What Will You Learn?
DBT is a practical, hands-on therapy which can be used to help everyone, even you don’t have a mood disorder. From this course you will learn about emotions and how to change them, become more able to interact better with others, be more mindful, and learn how to handle difficult situations proficiently.
The Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Diploma Course begins by outlining what DBT is, why and how it was developed (including a little about its creator, Marsha M Linehan), and how it is used. From this foundational knowledge, you’ll quickly gain an understanding of the therapy and the benefits of learning and using DBT Skills.
The course looks at the causes and reasons for emotional suffering and how ineffective behaviours develop. You’ll gain a greater understanding of Emotion Dysregulation, including physical reasons that it may occur and how it can affect a person’s personal and professional life.
Taking you step-by-step through DBT’s modular treatment program, you’ll learn how and why it is structured in the way it is, along with the various issues that Dialectical Behaviour Therapy can alleviate. Part of this explanation will take you through the four stages that you can go through when learning DBT.
You’ll learn some of the general guidelines and goals of undertaking DBT. You’ll discover the ways in which Dialectical Behaviour Therapy differs to other forms of therapy and how it can be added to other wellness programs. The course also highlights some issues to consider when learning about this therapy.
Along with providing a lot of introductory information on DBT, you are also provided with a first-day crash course orientation, to get you involved with the practice quickly. From this, you’ll learn skills that help with Emotion Regulation and will be more able to create goals for yourself to reach while studying the course.
