Assessment at the end of the course will be in English and it will be based on a written examination on the topics of the lessons. The written test lasts two hours and includes 1 exercise, a multiple choice test with 6 questions and 5 open questions.
The evaluation of the report of laboratory activity also contributes to the final mark. During the course, the teacher will provide a scheme of the report that has to be written in English.

Programma

The course of Analytical Biochemistry deals with analytical techniques used for the analysis of biomolecoles, in particular proteins. The course will illustrate the developments of mass spectrometry and its applications in biochemical analyses with practical examples of interpretation of mass spectra. The course will also describe immunological techniques and radioisotope techniques. The final part of the course will show applications of these techniques in the clinics and in the pharmaceutical industry. The laboratory part will concern the use of immunological assays and the identification of proteins by mass spectrometry.
