Foundation Program

The Foundation Programme is strategically designed to provide students with the essential academic and technical background needed to succeed in a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. It focuses on bridging the gap between your current qualifications and the rigorous requirements of a top-tier tech education.

Entry requirements
The Foundation Year is intended for students with an MQF/EQF Level 3 or equivalent qualification who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree at OPIT. A minimum B2 level of English proficiency is required for admission.

Secondary School Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
English proficiency as B2-level certificate or equivalent.
Strong motivation to pursue higher education in a tech-focused, international environment.

OPIT’s online learning methodology consists of the following components: high-quality asynchronous content, live sessions with the lecturers, always-available teaching assistants and tools to interact with the class.

Asynchronous content consists of video lectures, interactive learning material, slides, and documents, as well as online coding software and simulations. You can access the materials 24/7 on a mobile APP or PC, via our online learning platform Canvas. That way you can fit learning around your own schedule.

Live lessons, instead, are where you can connect directly with the rest of the class and with the lecturers. Case studies, practical exercises, guest speakers, and other activities will all be covered by the lecturers here. Each and every session will also be recorded and made accessible on Canvas.

Additionally, you will have access to Teaching Assistants on a daily basis and will be able to communicate with other students and your instructors via Canvas and the internal chat.
