LOBBYING IN THE EU: THEORY AND PRACTICE

The course provides the main analytical tools needed to understand the nature of EU decision-making, the agenda setting and implementation processes of key EU policies, and the roles and interests of the main actors involved in those. The first part of the course addresses the key EU policies and their interaction with the domestic policies of EU Member States. The second part of the course will focus on the key actors that engage to shape those policies. The interaction among EU institutions, policymakers, stakeholders and decision-making processes is discussed using political science methodological tools and analytical approaches. The course concludes with a reflection on the future challenges facing the EU and the opportunities/barriers that they present for governments and actors outside government.
