The programme
The Electrical Engineering Master’s is all about specialisation: there are no core courses that have to be taken by all students. All specialisations share the same structure. In your first year you will attend lectures in your specialised field and in your second year you will further develop the knowledge and skills you have acquired during your studies by applying them to practical work and problem-based learning. You will be given the chance to tackle problems that even the professionals have yet to solve. Your personal curriculum will be designed in consultation with your thesis supervisor.
At the University of Twente we offer the following focus areas and specialisations in Electrical Engineering:
(1) Microsystems (focus: make it smaller): Integrated Devices and Systems / Integrated Optical Systems / Lab-on-a-chip Systems for Biomedical & Environmental applications
(2) Nanoelectronics: Robotics & mechatronics (focus: control over) / Robotics & Mechatronics
(3) Telecom (focus: facilitating or improving mobile wireless communication) / Communication Networks / Telecommunication Engineering
(4) Ic design/computer architecture (focus: hardware design): Dependable Integrated Systems / Integrated Circuit Design
(5) Biomedical applications (focus: electrical and electronic applications and devices to assis people): Neurotechnology & Biomechatronics
(6) Image and signal processing (focus: image processing and biometrics): Computer Vision & Biometrics

Career prospects
Electrical engineers are highly employable, largely because their training encompasses a branch of science rather than a specific profession. Without electrical engineers there would be no cars, aircraft, mobile phones, tablets, PCs or TVs. It is one of the best programmes you can take in terms of excellent job prospects.
