Public finance for social protection analysts

The course is intended for practitioners who already have a number of years' work experience in social protection and are seeking to strengthen their knowledge and skills in relation to social protection financing. The target audience will include government officials seeking to build more coherent financing plans for social protection, staff of international organizations, research institutes and development consultancies regularly providing technical support to national governments, and members of non-governmental organizations advocating for expansion of social protection systems. Participants should hold a bachelor or advanced degree and have a strong quantitative background in business, public administration, economics, political science, social science, finance, actuarial studies, mathematics, statistics or a related field.

Typical participants will be a) professionals working in ministries or government institutions responsible for the development and monitoring of social protection systems, such as ministries of labour, social protection/social affairs, finance and planning or health, and social security institutions; b) representatives of the social partners involved in the governance of social security institutions; c) officials of UN agencies working in the field of social protection; d) members of non-governmental organizations, research institutes or consultancy firms engaged in social protection.
