Il corso di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Elettrotecnica, Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree on Sustainable Transportation and Electrical Power Systems (EMJMD STEPS) è un percorso formativo svolto interamente in lingua inglese che prevede la mobilità degli studenti all’interno di un consorzio formato dalle seguenti quattro Università: Università di Oviedo (Spagna), Università di Nottingham (UK), Università Politecnica di Coimbra (Portogallo), Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza (Italia). Al completamento del corso di studio viene emesso un titolo congiunto riconosciuto dalle quattro università partner.
Sono previsti tre curricula, il primo dei quali è mirato a formare figure professionali con spiccate professionalità e competenze tecnico-scientifiche in tutto l’ambito dei trasporti elettrici e con particolari accenti sulle tecnologie per veicoli elettrici ed ibridi.
Il secondo orientamento mira invece a formare figure professionali capaci di affrontare con le necessarie competenze le complesse sfide per i sistemi elettrici derivanti dai profondi cambiamenti che stanno subendo i sistemi elettrici con il crescente utilizzo di convertitori elettronici di potenza e con la creazione di micro-grid e smart-grid.
Il terzo orientament mira invece a formare figure professionali capaci di affrontare con le necessarie competenze le complesse sfide per i sistemi elettrici derivanti dalla crescente penetrazione di generazione distribuita e smart grids, nonché dall’avvento del mercato elettrico.
La quota dell'impegno orario complessivo a disposizione dello studente per lo studio personale o per altra attività formativa di tipo individuale è pari ad almeno il 60% dello stesso.
