Con l'affermarsi della comunicazione via e-mail è cresciuta l'importanza di questo aspetto della comunicazione della lingua inglese. Tutti in azienda devono giornalmente leggere documenti di diversi tipi, moltissimi devono quotidianamente redigere brevi messaggi, molti hanno la responsabilità della stesura di rapporti, offerte, contratti.

Ilingua Business Corrispondence is a writing program designed for international business executives who need to write a range of text effectively in english. The course is based on real-world contexts and needs, and reflects the modern manager's need for a swift, clear and strategic approach to business communication. It will help the learner to gain confidence in written business communication through better understanding not only of conventions in terms of language and style, but also of the way texts function in building and nurturing relations with busines partners, while also achieving goals. The course also covers language use when dealing with complex or difficult issues and reviews common pitfalls and how to avoid them. Each section is completed with a listening text comprising an interview with or talk by a versed international manager talking about his or her experience with written business communication in English. Email exchanges concerning arrangements-discussing the use of email and its impact on the workplace, reviewing different formats and styles used for emails, considering the transactional and relational functions of language. Email written by speakers of english as a lingua franca requesting and providing information, considering the use of english as a lingua franca in relation to clarity and correctness and the achievement of aims. Unclear, ambiguous and inappropriate emails- analyzing ambiguous or offensive emails and reviewing ways of avoding communication problems. Follow-up letter-discussing the use of letters as opposed to emails, reviewing the format and generic features of letters. Memorandum concerning procedures in case of fire-reviewing the use, format, structure and style of memoranda. Fax concerning forthcoming office move- reviewing the format and style of faxes Letter of complaint concerning a training course-analyzing a letter of complaint, focusing on structure, use of linking words in the development of a strong argument response to the letter of complaint on the training course-analysing of style and tone and discussion on strategy in dealing with difficult issues in writing. Disciplinary memorandum-considering the need for directness and features of style that avoid ambiguity, but are not offensive.
