BIOFUEL PRODUCTION: Technologies for biofuel production from sugar/starch materials (I generation) or lignocellulose (II generation). Technologies for biodiesel production from vegetable oils (fundamental concepts concerning the usage of microalgae for oil production). Technologies for biogas and biomethane production. Some comparisons: biofuels, hydrogen, electric mobility.
SUSTAINABILITY IN PRODUCTION PROCESSES: General criteria for sustainable production. Few concepts concerning life cycle analysis (LCA) techniques for sustainability process assessment. A case study: is it possible to generate value on CO2? Technologies for carbon capture, sequestrations and utilisation (CCUS). Potential for CO2 utilisation.
