If you’re a healthcare professional who looks after patients/clients with one or more haematological disorders, this course will deepen your understanding of the various conditions, develop your skills and enhance your career potential.

You'll learn to provide holistic care for patients with either benign or malignant haematological conditions. You’ll explore the nature of different haematological disorders, including the physiological concepts of cancer, haemopoesis, the cell cycle, and normal/abnormal cell behaviour. You’ll consider needs of patients requiring high-dependency care, myelo-ablative chemotherapy and haematopoietic rescue.

You’ll also look at caring for patients, donors and families undergoing therapies, and issues related to sexuality, fertility and body image.

Assessment

You’ll be assessed via a 3,000-word essay on aspects of caring for patients with a haematological disorder (malignant or benign) as well as a practice portfolio equivalent to 3,000 words.
