EUROPEAN AND GLOBAL ECONOMY

The first part of the course will analyse theoretical models and (macro)economic policy tools – namely, fiscal and monetary policy tools. The second part of the course, instead, will be highly empirical and will focus on the analysis of international economic policies and institutions. Topics such as trade policy (GATT and WTO) and the economic policies of the International Monetary Fund will be analysed. The third and final part of the course will offer an analysis of the monetary policy interventions by the European Central Bank, and will analyse in detail the regional policies of the European Union looking at issues such as economic growth, regional convergence processes, and the implementation strategies of regional economic policies.
