Global Forum on Women, the Life-cycle and the World of Work: Breaking Taboos

Despite global progress in closing the gender gap in workforce composition, women still face inequalities in access to employment, pay and career advancement. Comprehensive legal, policy and action frameworks to tackle discrimination, inequalities and skills and education gaps are in place; gender-based stereotypes and unconscious bias are being brought to the surface and tackled. And yet... there are still taboos about women's physiology during their life-cycle and their impact on fundamental life choices and opportunities. How are the three Ms - Menstruation, Maternity and Menopause - connected with social beliefs and stereotypes, and what impact do they have on the world of work and on achieving gender equality? This forum will explore all such intersections between women's health and their work trajectories in a series of lectures and master classes delivered by experts in a variety of disciplines and from different geographical and cultural contexts.
