Programma

What topics does this course cover?

  • ILO reporting background.
  • Reports on ratified Conventions: types, forms, content, communication to and consultations with representative organizations of employers and workers, periodicity, exceptions, calendar of action and challenges.
  • Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR).
  • Conference Committee on the Application of Standards (CAS).

What will I learn?

  • Background knowledge of the ILO and its ILS system.
  • Detailed and updated knowledge of the role and operation of reporting in the ILS system.
  • Capacity to use the NORMLEX databases, the Managing ILS Reporting Website and other resources relevant to ILS reporting.
  • Capacity to prepare (or participate in the preparation of) the reports on the application, in law and in practice, of ratified ILO Conventions.

How is the course organized?

  • 16 sessions, with two sessions to be completed each week.
  • A tutor following participants’ progress.
  • Knowledge assessment at the start and at the end of the training.
  • A unique assignment consisting in the drafting of a detailed report on the application of a ratified ILO Convention, which is then commented in order to improve quality.
  • Course content relies on downloadable pdf files with the substance of the sessions, Internet-based quizzes for return to tutor, videos, screencasts of NORMLEX database, a forum with topics for discussion, and a library with a collection of relevant publications and documents.
