ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses

The purpose of the ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses is to describe and codify radiographic abnormalities of the pneumoconiosis caused by the inhalation of dusts in a simple, systematic and reproducible manner, thus contributing to international comparisons of data, epidemiology, screening and surveillance, clinical practice and medical research. The ILO Classification is used internationally for epidemiological research, for the screening and surveillance of persons working in dust-laden environments, and for clinical purposes. Some countries also use it in the assessment of compensation claims.
