Descrizione

The aim of the course is to make students of architecture acquire a comprehensive and holistic approach towards the issues of urban planning, design and architecture. The course is programmed with an integrated approach which considers the city as a unique but composite structure created through the historic continuum of the place and composed of a variety of elements, each having their own history and characteristics. The multilayered urban structure of the historic city, as it is the case in both Rome and Istanbul, as well as the dynamic nature of the city with a continuous evolution of the urban space will be of a particular concern. The presentation of the basic principles and methodologies for the assessment of the urban identity as a basis for planning and design guidelines, will be followed by field studies planned to strengthen the acquired knowledge.

1. Students will receive a certificate of attendance with a number of ECTS credits awarded by the Faculty of Architecture and Design of BAU University - Istanbul. 2.Discount up to 40% if take 2 or 3 other courses of the Academy is available. 3. This course requires 42 contact hours. It can be completed in short intensive formats of 2-4 weeks or in a 3-month term, combined with city and culture tours, languages and other courses.
