The Master in Big Data and Management program prepares students to work effectively with complex, large-scale, real-world data and to create business value from it.
It focuses on improving the understanding of customer patterns to increase business and improve profitability. Working in big data management requires a highly interdisciplinary set of competencies: a deep practical expertise in programming and computer science, a good working knowledge of advanced statistical techniques, a thorough understanding of the business world, and excellent communication skills. Finding this set of competencies in a single person is rare. They need to be developed with the right mix of classroom and field learning.
The curriculum of the Master in Big Data and Management is designed to prepare students to create analytical models and interpret them from a business-oriented perspective. It prepares young professionals to pursue a career as a data scientist or a business analyst. Today many companies, including large industries, consulting firms, and marketing specialists are currently on the hunt for these types of professionals.

The Master provides students with 60 ECTS credits. It teaches them how to harness large amounts of data, design analytical models and how to interpret them to optimize business processes.


The Master is aimed at recent graduates with a BA or MS in Economics, Statistics, Engineering or other scientific disciplines. Fluent English and strong motivation are required.

Programma

The Master in Big Data and Management is a 12-month programme of intensive training, designed to develop the unique skill set required for a successful career in the world of big data and business analytics.

The curriculum is designed to ensure and support the progressive professional and personal growth of the students. Students will benefit from a productive learning experience made up of lessons, case studies, group work sessions, and a high-level faculty of both academics and professionals.

During the Master, students will receive constant support from Career Service who will help them increase their employability in the labour market and aid them in the search for a curricular internship.

LEARNING LABS

Learning labs focus on personal development. During the programme, students develop cross-functional and soft skills by attending sessions during which they will: cultivate intellectual flexibility; develop problem solving skills; learn to adapt in diverse situations; refine cross-cultural awareness.

INTERNSHIP

The curricular internship is generally done at the end of the Master and represents an opportunity for students to combine theory and hands-on experience, coming into direct contact with professionals working in the industry. Career Services supports students in their search for internship opportunities, thus helping to broaden students’ career prospects and giving them the possibility to acquire the necessary work experience, increasing and improving their skills and expanding their business network.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The Master lasts 12 months and it is composed of 4 terms.

  • Term 1: September – December 2020
  • Term 2: January – February 2021
  • Term 3: March – May 2021
  • Term 4: From May 2021 to the end of the Internship
